Very
little information is avaialble about this composer
from the golden era of HFM. It is pretty clear that
Gyan Dutt ji composed music since early 40's and even
K. L. Saighal sahab sang his songs. Gyan Dutt, a veteran
composer, used Geeta Dutt's young melodious voice for
as many as seven songs in the year 1948 for the music
of the film Chanda Ki Chandani. "Ulfat ke dard ka kabhi
maza lo" is one of the easily available and sweet song
from this film. Sulochana Kadam (who became Sulochana
Chavan after marriage and went on to become the numero
uno "Lavani" singer in Marathi) sang a few songs for
this film. Geeta and Sulochana together sang the title
song of the film.
The same year released Hua Savera (1948), a Sapru-Nayantara
starrer, Geeta sang five solos for Gyan Dutt. “More
man mein samayaa hain pyar” is one of the easily available
songs from this album. “Badli hawa khushi ka zamana
badal gaya” is a typical late forties number.
Gyan Dutt gave as many as eight songs including six
solos to Geeta Dutt for the Dev Anand, Rehana starrer
Dilruba (1950). This is the highlight album of Gyan
Dutt
